Main
Street dedication set for Earth Day
EBENSBURG -- In
honor of the 25th anniversary of Pennsylvania’s Main Street Program, there
will be a planting of tree seedlings on Friday, April 22nd
at 1 p.m. at the Young Peoples Community Center in Ebensburg. “Since its
inception, the Main Street Program has grown all over the state, including here
in Ebensburg,” said Christine Strugala, Community Development Director.
“Our program was established in 1995 and is considered one of Main Street’s
success stories.” In 2004, the Ebensburg Main Street Partnership was granted
“Main Street Achiever” status from the PA Department of Community
and Economic Development. This is for communities that are successfully implementing
the Main Street Four Point Approach without DCED administrative assistance.
The tree seedlings to be planted are a donation from the Pennsylvania Downtown
Center through a donation from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The Game Commission
is donating the seedlings to Pennsylvania downtown organizations in order to
beautify urban areas, downtown parks, and vacant lots and to promote habitat
for wildlife.

MS
Walk
HOLLIDAYSBURG -- 2005 Hollidaysburg MS Walk will be held
on April 17, at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School
from 2-4pm. Register online or learn more at www.nationalmssociety.org
-- Every hour of every day, someone hears the words, "You
have multiple sclerosis." They enter a time of unpredictability when
they wonder each morning if they will see, if their legs will work, if they
can pick up their child. This is why my team is going to walk. When thousands
of people walk together in the MS Walk®, awareness is generated of the
many programs and events provided by the National MS Society's nationwide
network of chapters. Husbands walk for their wives, kids walk for their dads,
co-workers walk for their cubicle neighbor, all proudly wearing an "I’m
Walking For..." sticker on their shirt. Each one is raising money so
that local National MS Society offices can provide literature, support groups,
and education programs. So that we can continue to fund cutting edge research
into the cause and cure. Research that has developed 5 therapies for the treatment
of multiple sclerosis. Research that will continue, until in the end, 2 hours
pass when no one is diagnosed, then a day, then a week, until the day when
no one is diagnosed, and the cure is found. This is why we walk.
-- This information was submitted by Marci, who has MS. "I want
people out there to know about MS and how it is and how us MS'ers live with
MS I have made a site for MS and my life with MS." Please visit Marci's
site at www.ms4life.com,
If you would like to help sponsor Marci, visit her National
MS page. Help Find A Cure For MS!
